There is so much myth that surrounds the female body; often framed as closer to nature than its male counterpart, the female body is seen as something more base, more dangerous and unruly, while simultaneously being seen as a marker of weakness. This mythology is often created to justify a gendered hierarchy, but I also can’t help but be drawn to some of these representations. There is something beguiling about a Mother Nature – a divine creator, beautiful and strong-willed with a capacity for great cruelty and tenderness.  And yet, despite the myth and meaning that makes us big or small, weak or powerful, cut open, we are all the same – intestines and bone spilling out from beneath soft skin.
